Dear families,
English– We have finished Unit 6 of EW this week. Next week will start Unit 7 and the students will again have spelling homework to do.
Science– This week we explored the topic of magnets. We reviewed the forces of nature (push, pull, friction, gravity, and magnetism). We talked about how magnets can be made, what materials are naturally magnetic, and even watched some demonstrations of experiments to try at home with magnets.
RxT– The third Monday of January, in America, is a public holiday celebrating the birthday of a great civil rights leader, Martin Luther King Jr. We read a text to learn more about his life and work that helped create equal rights for all people, black and white, in the US.
Writing– Last year, the students used a graphic organiser of an OREO to help plan their persuasive writings. This year, they will use a hamburger graphic organiser to plan. Their persuasive writings have only been one paragraph, but starting next week they will expand to be five.
SxL– We had another two great presenters this week! After the presentations, we continued talking about how we can help our community. This week’s discussion was about helping animals. We looked at different animal shelters in Prague and around the world and common needs that they have.
Matlog– Multiplying multi digit numbers by a two digit number is what this lesson was all about. We reviewed the process and steps to find the product of more complicated problems.
Have a beautiful weekend,
Ms. Moore
